Which One is the Best?

Which one has outperformed the Set?

Which one has delighted the shareholders?

Have you picked the right one as your investment vehicle?

The above is the ASPI movement since 31st Dec 14 to date compared with the index market capitalization movement of these commercial banks.

You can see truly astonishing facts.

SAMPATH outperformed others

Yes,

They are too aggressive and were superb dividend payers. That affected to their Capital Adequacy Ratio. Being too aggressive they increased their asset base or loan book faster. Then they should have increased their equity . Instead they became dividend masters.

It resulted in SAMP moving into rights and scrip dividends to enhance their equity base.

These two options made their share attractive.

One thing is for sure...What ever the company that looked after the share holders better, in return share holders will look after such companies when they are in trouble by way of subscribing rights.

That's right YK and spw. I am proud to say that I put three of these in my portfolio and two of them are the leaders in this group up to now.

Look at the most key profitability indicator comparison. Sampath Bank has gained the most during last three year period followed by PABC. Commercial Bank and HNB languishing.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

This gives one clear reason for the rocket movement in the stock price.

Sampath bank with an impressive YoY earnings growth of 40%. Looks like they are on an express run. The golden question is how they can sustain this growth without falling into the track of earnings at the expense of poor discipline in credit controls. Await more updates.
