CSE RISE , RIDING ETHICALLY

Post by slstock on Fri Nov 02, 2018 5:44 am

BACKGROUND :

Few weeks ago  the Forum/ forums were dead.

Market was dead.

Some People showed frustration. Some cursed. Some left the market.
Some at other forums predicted /wanted market crashes.

Few others  and myself  did what we could to instill market confidence.

I personally researched and wrote about how undervalued our market is.
Compared it to other Countries.
Explained why $ was flowing going out of SL ( not because CSE was bad).
Asked whose fault was CSE down ?
Tried to  tell Investors to collect dirt cheap PE 3-4 shares step by step.
Showed how India kept  market up even with foreign out flows.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
REALITY :
About 3-4 weeks ago,  a few of us managed to revive
what was a clinically dead forum .
Then it  got active.
Then YK said below. I replied.
slstock wrote:
yellow knife wrote:
....forum is active.( But not the market. )
1) Lets go one step at a time friend.  More people are active means more the market can get active too.
2) Well whether the market is active or not depends on how we view it.
ex 1 : If some shares in your portfolio is holding ground when other are loosing 20-30% that could be an active  achievement in a way
ex 2 : Even in  a market like this, if you can find occasional trading ops with your medium term shares ( even if at a loss trading somewhat helps to average atleast)
ex 3: you can find more and more "gems" to match prices of 2012, might be a joy for some collectors
More long standing member started posting more.
Then I saw some new accounts and old account starting
to get back to the forum ( some under new ID).
Some accounts  got hyper active.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Whether the political coup is democratically right or wrong  is
another matter , but  YES  it a joy to see CSE up for awhile.
After a storm , sun is shining again"

We needed some revival  as

a) some of us Investors were carrying short term losses

b) most Traders / Short term players were staying out of  market
   as it was not   conducive to them. ( Short term player are needed
   to usually make short term price  ups)

c) The  fundamentally valued shares trading at crazy low , needs
   to slowly recover to true value  political coup or not . That how real
  stock markets work and  survive in the world.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Something Important. :
There are other forums in cyberspace.
One many of us  left for a reason.
Another was founded by people who were with us but had
different needs/ideas  later.
Some member here,  were/are active at those forums.
( under different names )
I see  a few  came back here  - welcome
( But some maybe   with new IDs too).
STRONG request Personally and Administratively
This forum was founded for a different purpose and should be different to others as all you members  know.
We should only use it for educational purposes.
We should only promote ethical investing and trading as you"ll know.
Not manipulative ways or ways to make a quick buck on hot shares
or share that will fall 20% in seconds  when  promotional buying stops.
For example :
I bought BLUE for Rs 0.6 last week. I am hoping to sell for Rs 1 maybe ( if things go right with market  ups). But I did not post on this share though I hold it for a trade as it not fundamentally strong  and when the fun stops  it can make people big loses if they buy/hold  at the wrong time.
For such there are other forums one can do as they bid right ?
As the market moves ( due to some incentives MR ministry has given which
some will call it great and others will see it as greater  trap)
some market manipulation is happening too.
We might get tempted to promote our short term portfolios to
make quick profit and get out.
We might get tempted to gang up and make certain shares
look promising for quick profit.
YK below did good topic on the difference of Trader and Investor mentalities
and discussed the promotional needs/tactics at times
h
ttp://forum.lankaninvestor.com/t10879-other-people-s-money
( Actually when multiple promos come they can come true too if
many people follow the promos to start buying/selling such .
Thats why people  promotes/demote   isn't it ? ) .
Let the people at this Forum not do such. Let us be ethical.
We don't need to.
Some of us got educated and bought or switched shares before this  boom.
So when they rise you can sell for profit
When whole ASI rises most shares we hold will rise anyway.
The Good , Bad , Ugly and the manipulated !
Yesterday 165 shares were up. Only 25 were down.
So let it happen naturally ( if external manipulators are playing games
let them. Quietly trade with them and make profit . You can sat there is some game
but do not make posts to join them to  promote their ways).
SUMMARY :
But my all means , feel free to share knowledge the right way.
Let us never please  forget to respect and follow the rules and etiquette
this forums  was found upon !
Please no member here ,  get tempted to promote ( or even demote to buy)
all their trading shares in their portfolios.
If everyone does that this forum will 290 share listed every day.
By all means
a) make Trades and  Invest on share that are trading  at crazy low prices.
b) make share revelations  with an Educational motive only . Not personal.
Enjoy the ride.
But let us always  not forget to  do it the right way at this forum!
ps : I will not be surprised if this post get few comments and likes
My kind request from all the members here
1. This forum need not to be the jumping board for any kind of promotions. ( its ugly to see one promoting the shares he had collected asking others to queue for buying while he himself now leading the selling side secretly)
2. Whenever someone else question the writing of yours to clarify, please behave professionally.( I asked about Cotton Prices from Pantomath he answered it than running into quarrel. )
3. Respect the advice of Seasoned Matured Investors, specially SLS for his intervention sharp on time . ( My way is different, though I have intervened when promotion efforts were seen on Ainlana and Kalamazoo sometimes back)
4. This forum consist of many educational items . Read them .
5. I invite good writers like Hunter, Chinvi, FG and many others back to the forum and arguing and expressing of different views, brainstorming is needed at the moment.
I have to write a similar comment here as well same as what I have written in LSE's thread.
This rise is speculative one and can turn anywhere depending on the scenario that is going to unfold.
It's too early to comment that CSE rise . I would like to look at things more cautiously as I need to be extra careful because I can't afford to loose any more.
Look cautiously on everything happening around you until such time you are very confident on the future events.
Safe trading for everyone of you. Also not forgetting a + rep for you.
Good advises SLS,
This uptrend is artificial and short lived unless MR secure majority.Longterm out look will depend on the measures taken by next government to improve macroeconomics of the country.
Re: CSE RISE , RIDING ETHICALLY
Want to clarify further
1) This post was not about predicting  any  future CSE rise.   That another matter.
This post was a call for forum member to follow ethics of this forum and to not promote their portfolio during market rises - that is  whenever
2)  There are 2 kinds of shares we are talking about here.
A)
Whether market is active or not, a fundamentally sound share which has/is  improving its base has all the right to run at any given time.  We have seen during the market falls some Insurance shares and CTC ( seems over valued now) being in solid green.
So what ever the market status is,   improving earning  and low PBV  shares have earned it right to run at any time. Why should they be held down  below  it worth due to market sentiments  ?  All World stock markets and share  price are and should be based on their core value. It is world accepted fact.
Ex:
If X share in 2015 was
Rs 100 NAV
PE 8
trading at say Rs 150
and now  after 3 years
NAV 150
PE 4
why shouldn't  it not be valued at  Rs 200 under any market condition ?
It fully deserves to and further more it earned its right to hold the value
at Rs 200 after any run without falling back.  But does it do that is another question like in weak market in Sri Lanka.
Anycase such share  many will not promote as  they are generally  more liquid  ( harder to push ) and harder to move through promotions.
Such shares we usually need only  occasionally post  updates to point out the value when market is not doing justice.
Sometimes we intervene when someone shrewdly demotes such (  giving twisted facts)  to collect at lower prices for their trading needs.
B)
On the other hand , some share which have little value or even over priced in market are manipulated easily as they can be due to low liquidity .  Means it is easy to push such shares for trades with herd mentality.
Some ofcourse will like to promote and trade with such share as it will give trading ops several times  ( value or no value is no care )
Such when they run high will ( and should ) fall back down very bad and burn many
as opposed to Category A.
In this forum we should be ethical in what we go.
As people with different experiences can  be reading this , I tried to explain more..
ps :Gave + Reps for all comments.
After several Years of hard work we hardly see any Promotions in the Forum.
Thanks SLS and others for keeping the Forum clean.
Promotion of shares one thing But I have seen that promotions ultimately leads to very ugly fights and people goes to very Low levels to prove their ascendancy.
Here we can see that people respect each others opinion and some arguments and Issues sorted out amicably.
Even this Political agitation could not able to breach the spirit we maintain here.
Thanks All.
We try to keep this unity and the harmony forever.
Thanks a lot SLS for your contribution to this forum.
I have been in this forum for almost last 2+ years and learned a lot from your educational post. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I wonder when we will have parliamentarians/leaders in our country like you for making decision to bring our country in the right path.
i can imagine the amount of time you are spending to write these post. I am even struggling to get time to read your post, so how much time you need for writing/correcting.
I remember you were almost single handedly defending/trying to keep this forum away from promoters.( Specially there was a person called ''MAHARAJAH''-This is just one example/I do remember many other things, but not writing here all of it)
God bless you SLS.
Thanks a lot YK for your writing. I do totally agree with you.
Thanks all others for your contribution.
