ලෝක වෙළඳපොලේ ඛනිජ තෙල් මිල ඊයේ (27) දිනයේ කැපී පෙනෙ ලෙස ඉහළ යාමක් පෙන්නුම් කළා. දිනක් තුළ එම වැඩිවීම ඇමෙරිකානු ඩොලර් 4 කට ආසන්න වූ අතර එය 10.3% ක වර්ධනයක් ලෙස සැලකිය හැකියි. ඇමෙරිකානු වෙළඳපොලේ බොරතෙල් බැරලයක මිල ඊයේ දිනයේ සටහන් වූයේ ඩොලර් 42.56 ක් ලෙසයි. බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය වෙළඳපොලේ තෙල් බැරලයක මිල ඩොලර් 47 ක් ලෙස සටහන් වුණා. 2009 වසරේ මාර්තු මාසයෙන් පසු තෙල් බැරලයක මිල දිනක් තුලදී ඉහළම වැඩිවීමක් පෙන්නුම් කළේ ඊයේ දිනයේදීයි.

But what will be the longer term trend for oil . Say Aug 2016 ?

Well oil price has some effect but there are other factors too right.
When Oil was $80 ASI still went up

I think more than SL , there are some other countries which will be effected by Oil Price .

At SL, Oil reduction was a blessing to government to reduce import costs. But we also should note SL is ( finally) trying to think of renewable energy, in power generation and for vehicles. So moving away from Oil dependency much as possible if good to SL and world ( not to certain countries though).

For this year , I don' t see massive price recovery for oil. It may trade between $60 -40 max. Some predict drop below $40 also

Yes I agree SL

However Oil price is one of the major factors that affect CSE and our economy.
Significant Oil price increase will affect our import bill and possible increase in general commodity prices thus inflation, higher inflation means higher interest rates, thereby less investor attraction to CSE, thus affecting our pocket.......

You are right, the possibility of medium term oil and other commodity price increase could be minimal...

Low crude oil price could possibly be a saviour for us from another BOP crisis. If the price goes above $ 80-90 range, it can cost additional $ 1.5-2.0 billion dollar drain annually.

Why not we move for our natural gas resources

Government should promote electric and Hybrid vehicles. Motorbikes are good within the city limits. Pooling is another method used in many countries.

Should provide good public transport with frequent buses during rush hours. Then people will use more of public transport. We can save a lot of foreign reserves if we can limit our fuel needs.

Until we perfect the art of using renewable energy for our transformational needs, improving the existing mass transportation systems is the most less damaging option.

Improve on reliability, cleanliness and accessibility, more will opt to use them.

Have long term secure car parks in outskirts and create circular transport systems overlapping one another at some points, where commuter can hop and jump at his/her will, using the same ticket for one journey.

We should not try to reinvent the wheel and just fine tuning on the existing system is all what is needed.

International oil price is falling today which is a good news for LIOC.

Asha Phillips technical analysis target is over Rs. 50. Very soon price formula will be introduced and LIOC might have a good rally. Good time to accumulate.

This is my personal view and please do your own research before making a buy decision.

rupee is on the decline against the dollar. Keeping policy rates steady was one reason. This will make import of oil more costly

Oil extends losses on weak economic outlook

Oil prices fell on Wednesday as concerns about the global economy exacerbated worries that an oversupply of crude could last longer than expected.

Weak manufacturing reports from China, the United States and Europe undermined global equities, while a stronger-than-expected build in U.S. crude stocks drove oil market sentiment down, analysts said.

Wednesday's fall compounded an 8 percent drop in Brent and U.S. crude prices on Tuesday, which ended a 25 percent three-session surge, the largest three-day gain since 1990.

Oil prices fall on China equity losses

Oil fell on Monday as Chinese equities weakened, with a firmer dollar and global oversupply fears weighing on prices.

The U.S. Labor Day holiday helped keep trade thin.

China's main indexes closed down on Monday as investors sold shares in the aftermath of a four-day market holiday, during which further restrictions on futures trading were announced.

"Oil is only taking its cues from China this morning," SEB chief commodity analyst Bjarne Schieldrop said.
