Re: Un-fair Tourism
I warmly welcome your interest on tourism..Not every one is interested in Tourism or related shares
Yes I agree the toilet issue in SL.. In leading tourist destinations they have overcome this possible barrier .
Regarding repeated business and loyal customer base let me quote this from TANG.N000
Company has decided to revisit its dependency on Russian market and to diversify the Product to include many tourists from different destinations.
Many discounts offered for locals during off-season like many other hotels..
The hotels in Waskaduwa often recognize and reward the repeated customers. Tangerine annual report state that they have identified 275 repeaters mainly from UK,Germany, Holland, Russia, and Ukraine.

If you go to Adams peak or worlds end. I feel sorry for you as you have to empty your bloody bladder high up there as you are required to take in fluids by the lire's.
If you swim in the sea you will empty your beer filled bladder and make the fish giddy.
if you go to MECCA during the festival time there is no return way or valve. You go straight to Heaven. (That's what sometimes happen)
if you fall into a drain, you just piss off
or get kicked by a waiter for leaving a small tip, you become incontinent!

You cant travel in your own vehicle you have to hire a safari kind of a jeep.. The driver said that Sri Lankans and Arabs like this tour as there is less walking... Contrast to that Arabs and Sri Lankans dont like World's End as you have to walk a lot...
Poor lazy SLs and Arabs...

Though some try to duplicate white water rafting here, it was not a success because the rapids are not so challenging in that area.
I think trekking has better chance of success than rafting.

A study shows Luxury and Budget price hotels are thriving and Mid priced hotels are squeezing. How can this affect to the tourism sector shares. I feel we have few luxury type giants like AHUN, KHL etc. What are these middle category? does many of the listed hotels stocks listed in CSE belongs to the middle category?

Re: Un-fair Tourism
In 2010, we set a target of 2.5 million touristsa and $ 2.5 billiln revenue by 2016, it seems we will achieve revenue target by the end of 2015, but 2.5 million number will take few more years, Although this trend has not exactly reflected in listed hotel occupancy rates. Now tourism industry is getting stronger and now is the time for both private and state sector to engage in new things, new events including Casinos to be competitive like Dubai, Malaysia, Thailand etc, specially to attract niche markets.කිත්සිරි ද සිල්වා wrote:Compare to what UAE has to offer to SL, we have much more but we do not know how to promote and market them.

Even if we promote & market our existing attractions well, we can beat many, hands down, even without thinking of adding more & newer attractions.

I met a nice Russian family.. Like many other tourists I ve met he said " Your country is a Paradise and its the paradise mentioned in many Holy Books"... thus as per him SL should attract more tourists...
He and his wife are looking after two babies and almost staying in the hotel and nearby beach without walking and enjoying the area around.. He said many tourist with little babies avoid SL as we lack tourist baby sitting facility.. That really surprised me.. " Baby Sitting for tourist babies..." He said that is available in Thai Land, and just now I checked the authenticity of his statement... Yeah hotel's offer nanny's service.. What a opportunity ?

This is true, even in maldives, most of the resorts have these baby sitting centres called Kids Clubs..... though maldives is famous as a honeymoon destination...
But I have not seen this facility in srilankan hotels....
This is a good opportunity to tap different market segment....
