A short answer might be, coz that's what they have to ditch.

In all previous instances whenever market was so low foreigners were the ones who snap up big quantities from the market with cheap prices and one or two years later our local fellows jump in at which point foreigners sold out with hefty profits. Here foreigners are selling at deep discounts may be due to they are of the view that next year or two will be extremely bad here and locals are thinking now we are at the bottom. Its too early to say which party is correct but in all previous instances foreigners proved to be correct in their timing of in and out.

Re: SAMP.N0000 (Sampath Bank PLC)
Even at this price SAMP has a great value,Rs.11.75 dividend is on 3rd June.Holding this for longterm will be a sure winner.
On a trader's point of view buying SAMP at this price for trading is not a good idea.

Re: SAMP.N0000 (Sampath Bank PLC)
trading too, I couldn't put some into SAMP ( short term just for the Dividend).
If I can release some money depending on market situation, I was thinking
about SAMP on June 2nd if price is low.
But the greater worry is how much SAMP will drop after dividend.
Rs 100 seems not too far fetched!
So, I feel it might not be smart to put money just for the dividend
in short term. Will decide on June 1st/2nd depending on price
But for long term investment, no question, SAMP at around Rs 100 is very good.
( if you are a true investor who can hold incase something goes further south)

At 112/ with dividend is better than at 100/ without.

If we extrapolate SAMP XD behavior in the past; we can expect a drop to 100 and recover back to 110 within one or two weeks.
Dropping to double digit will be bonus to scavengers.
