The interesting observation is that though the volume has declined by 1.4% the value still up by 2.5%. This is mainly due to the average price increase YoY quarterly.

The key takeaway would be when the volume goes down the cost of sales going down and when the prices have increased then it will directly improve the gross profit margin of the companies.

In conclusion we can expect the plantation sector (mainly tea) to record growth in revenue in Q1 18 YoY and gross profit increasing YoY. If the operating costs were managed similar to last quarter then good plantations should record good growth in earnings in Q1 18 YoY.

My key hopes are TPL, MAL, MASK, LDEV, KVAL, UDPL, HPL & ELPL.

Some high level estimates based on my assumptions are given below. If they prove to be correct then we should see plantation sector stocks start moving towards their 52W high recorded last year.

Lucky to have a writer who is also interested in Plantations. However since all above plantation companies are not purely depending on tea we have to look at commodity prices of Rubber as well as Palm Oil.

Majority are specifically tea except for KVAL & ELPL. However ELPL and KVAL too have a huge exposure to tea other than Rubber & Palm Oil. KVAL made the super result in Jan-March period of 2017 courtesy to Tea boom and this time too I expect a repeat.
