Deputy Minister of Minor Export Crop Promotion Nishantha Muthuhettigama, against whom an arrest warrant was issued, has left the country for Singapore in the wee hours today.
The deputy minister reportedly left the country at around 12.40am today through the VIP terminal at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.
On Wednesday, the Baddegama Magistrate’s Court issued a warrant for the arrest of Muthuhettigama in connection with the recent torching of an election stage of Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena in Wanduramba.
However, speaking to an Ada Derana reporter after leaving the country today, the Deputy Minister had said that he is visiting Singapore with two close associates for a holiday and that he would return to the island before the Presidential Election.
Emphasizing that he had the utmost respect for the judiciary, Muthuhettigama said that he had decided to leave the country for a vacation due to the mental stress he had suffered in the wake of recent events.
The deputy minister has been accused over the torching of the Common Candidate’s election stage, damaging two shops in Udappuwa and for attempting to forcefully release two suspects in police custody.
Three supporters of the Deputy Minister were arrested and remanded for allegedly torching and damaging a venue of common candidate Maithripala Sirisena’s election stage in Wanduramba.
Later three security officers assigned to Muthuhettigama were also arrested and remanded by the Baddegama Magistrate’s Court. However, they were recently released on bail.
The case was postponed to December 29 while the Inspector General of Police (IGP) was nstructed to produced the deputy minister and his driver before the court on the said date.

If it is so. MR can easily say to arrest these people. But he has never done that in his tenor of 10 years as president.
Therefore again this is another example that this country has no law and order in place. The leader in this country has no intention to put things at least now.
Therefore if MR wins we can imagine how this country will run in next 8 years. All i think about teaching a leston to corrupt people. We can't say well done to all what they do. If people say yes again "Sri Lankawata Deiyangema pihitai"

But problem for me is that the so called educated normal people in this country still says jaya wewa Mahinda & keep on batting for him knowing MR is wrong.
Why getting burned when you have a water bucket in your hand. To send a message to all the politicians in this country "saying that we need the country to run in generally accepted norms of good governance" otherwise we will kick you out.
Look at the TV advertisements in all channels. When MS put 1 Ad MR puts 20 ads when considering all the channels. CSN total MR by using actors, actresses & sportsman. Some ads are not ads they are mud campaigns. These all cost money & they want to earn it when they come to power.
Forget about other things just stop the bleeding. We can look at other stuff in the general election.

It is as simple as this.
Those who have benefitted from these corruptions do not want to see or have changes.
They have come to a state that they are so blind and that they do not believe it is corruption, even if it was proven with credible facts.
They want to wallow in corruption like pigs in mud and amass more for them and a few more generations after them.
They only want to defend the system and paint a rosy picture.
Only thing that they do not realize is that corrupt system is a broken system and it would not last longer.
Sooner or later, it will implode.
That is why many are not willing to stop bleeding.
Blood in their hands too.

Deputy Minister of Minor Export Crop Promotion Nishantha Muthuhettigama, who was arrested on arrival at the Katunayake Airport this morning over pending warrant, has been remanded till December 30 by the Negombo Magistrate’s Court.
Muthuhettigama, who left for Singapore despite a court issued warrant for his arrest, was taken into custody by police at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake and later produced before the Negombo Magistrate.
On Wednesday (24), the Baddegama Magistrate’s Court issued a warrant for the arrest of Muthuhettigama in connection with the recent torching of an election stage of Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena in Wanduramba.
He has been accused over the alleged arson attack, damaging two shops in Udappuwa and for attempting to forcefully release two suspects in police custody.
However, on Friday (26) the deputy minister left the country for Singapore. Despite the warrant issued for his arrest, Muthuhettigama had reportedly boarded a flight at around 12.40am by traveling through the VIP terminal at the Katunayake Airport.
