Sugar Tax has hit carbonated beverages including Elephant house soft-drinks.

As per CCS reports, volume drop is as high as 21% during 3rd Q on YoY basis.

Sugar tax was imposed on carbonated beverages since Nov 2017. It increased the prices, and the label contained a mark showing the level of sugar.

Surprisingly sugar tax was only imposed on carbonated drinks, where even Milo or Nescafe also include a massive sugar content.

Staying focused,,,staying ahead... 2017/18

CCS has increased its revenue, despite many obstacles for FMCG sector.
However the bottom line was affected by these adverse conditions like imposing tax on sugar content as well as slowing of GDP growth.

2011 was a bubble in CSE , yet very few companies share price surpassed this bubbled up price.

The PE ratios clearly shows the speculative nature of market price in 2011 , and yet like many companies in FMCG sector the PE ratio is still at a higher value.

Top twenty list shows that foreign funds are interested in this company and in 2018 alone, BBH Emerging Asia Fund has collected few millions of shares.

Soft drink sector has witnessed 16% decline in volumes due to excise duty imposed on sugar content of carbonated soft drinks in Nov 2017.

Even Frozen Confectionery sector records a drop of 3.6 in volumes.

Company is looking into add Zero Sugar products to match the regulatory requirements.

Most manufacturers are deceiving their customers by playing with this factor.
They only talk about the Added Sugar % than the total composition %.

Sri Lanka is very slow in adopting such regulations such as sugar content declaration. Market will stabilize once the companies resort to low or no sugar products.
