The Most Expensive Cities In The World
The investment consultancy firm Mercer has ranked the world’s most expensive cities to live in as part of its annual Cost of Living Survey. Here they are.
10) Beijing – though this country is well known for its hazardous smog but keeping up with been one of the expensive cities to live on. This city is also known for its modern architecture as its ancient sites. It currently has 16 districts and 289 villages and towns. The GDP in 2015 was recorded as US dollars 350 billion.
9) N’Djamena, Chad – it is the capital and the largest city of chad. It is a regional market for livestock, salt, dates, and grains. Meat, fish and cotton processing are the major industries.
Geneva – this is the Swiss city that holds the main headquarters for the red cross and Europe’s united nations. It is also the global hub for diplomacy and banking. The main language spoken in Geneva is French.
7) Shanghai – it is the most populous city of china with over 24 million and counting. The city is known as the Pearl of the Orient and Paris of the east. The total gdp in 2015 was us dollars 400.83 billion.
6) Kinshasa, DR Congo – though this city sounds unknown to us it has come up to the 7th place in the list mainly due to the concerted Chinese investments. Kinshasa is identified as the second-largest officially Francophone city in the world.

4) Singapore – this is identified to be the global city and the sovereign state in the south East Asia and the world’s only island city. The 2015 Index of Economic Freedom ranks Singapore as the second freest economy in the world. Singapore has four official languages: English, Malay, Mandarin Chinese and English has become their widely used language in business and government institutions.

Due to the arable land and few natural resources, it imports most of its food and raw materials.
