ET, yesterday's happening was not related to something mentioned in above video.
It was when Ven Samanthabadra ridiculed the Daathu wandana "lies" which the main TV stations and papers hyped and promoted a lot . He never referred to දන්ත ධාතුන් වහන්සේ but media that made money promoting various ධාතු vandana making the society idiots started shouting that He was ridiculing දන්ත ධාතුන් වහන්සේ

Guruji, appreciate your concerns.
Knowledge of Buddha Dhamma and attainment of certain higher status towards Nibbana are two different things. Deva Daththa had a very good knowledge in Buddha Dhamma but his ambition to take control of “Buddha Sasana” made him fight the Lord Buddha. Rev. Ananda is considered the depository of all the sermons preached by the Lord Buddha but could not attain any higher status until Lord Buddha attained Parinibbhana.
We, the laymen, are devised not to criticize any individual priest for any apparent weakness we observe what so ever, but respect every one as representing the Maha Sanga descending from Lord Buddha’s time. For example, if you want to organize an alms giving never look into good or bad behavior of the individual priest but make up your mind that you offer it to the Maha Sanga descending from the Lord Buddha’s time and not to any individual. This is very important because the outward appearance may be misleading and we might commit a serious sin without even knowing that we do such a thing. Hence, it’s better not to discuss Rev. Pitiduwe Siridhamma’s issue any more. If any priest’s behavior is questionable, it’s his baby, not ours. ?Why should we laymen commit a sin unnecessarily.
For a true Buddhist, this is equally important when dealing with the laymen too, because you might travel in a bus in the same seat with a layman who has already attained Sowanpalaya but his behavior may not be so apparent to identify his higher status.
