MR Sworn as new PM
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been sworn in as the Prime Minister before President Maithripala Sirisena, a short while ago.
Ada Derana has received video footage of the swearing in ceremony at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, recorded from mobile phones of the politicians present.
The videos show the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa taking oath as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka before President Maithripala Sirisena and surrounded by MPs from the Joint Opposition and Ministers and MPs of the SLFP.
The SLFP MPs who recently left the government were also present for the ceremony.
The unexpected announcement comes just minutes after the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) decided to withdraw from the unity government.
UPFA General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera, speaking to Ada Derana, stated that the Speaker of Parliament has been notified of the decision in writing.
The decision was taken during the UPFA Working Committee meeting held today (26). Amaraweera was also present at the swearing in ceremony of the new Prime Minister.
President Maithripala Sirisena’s Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), the main constituent party of the UPFA, and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s United National Party (UNP) had formed a unity government in August 2015 following the general election.
The coalition had grown increasingly strained in recent months. Both coalition partners suffered heavy defeats in local elections in February, and Sirisena loyalists backed a no-confidence motion in April against the prime minister, who survived after a majority of legislators voted to support his coalition government.

Can they turn the macro economic variable which Ranil & his men couldn't address?
How can they protect the rupee?
How can they reduce the tax burden to the countrymen?
Most importantly how can they lift the stock market?

Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera says that the appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka is unconstitutional and illegal.
He also claimed that it is an ‘anti-democratic coup’.
“The appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister is unconstitutional & illegal. This is an anti democratic coup,” the UNP Vice Chairman tweeted after the news broke out.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was appointed as the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and was sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena today (26) at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

Generally when a power change has happened the market reacting positively at least for short period. Therefore, we can expect a green week next week. The other thing is that market reached its all time high during MR era so market can expect the same thing again.
During the last 4 year period the market PE has come down from 20x to 9x now. At least as an immediate reaction the market PE should move back to 10x in short term.
We are waiting..

(My advice to young and educate to get out before it is too late. At least your next generation has not to go through this kind of hardship. Getting even a Visit Visa to any developed country will be very difficult after this coup d'état).

but changing power like this won't affect market sentiment positively. this power change is nicely planned, rehearsal and sponsored diplomatic coup. would there be any inflow, those are the funds which stayed behind due to MR factor. I'm not a fan of last government or a gov. before them. but, this overnight PM drama is too much for a stable political and economic environment. but my gutt feeling says that market would be green in coming days.

Short to medium term traders can capitalize the opportunity.Longterm players should concentrate on earnings and select shares carefully without buying blindly.

Re: MR Sworn as new PM
Though the talk of caretaker government was promoted by MR & his group for some time, Ranil's sudden decision to privatize state banks by the end of this year, India's insistence to hand over part of Colombo harbor to them and most importantly, the draft constitution may have been the major reasons for the my3 to take this uneasy sudden decision.
Whether its a prudent decision or not is yet to be seen. Immediate impact of this will be on pending investigations over corruption, cases of murdering/disappearance of journalists and constitutional process etc. ?Can our law enforcement agencies withstand the pressure that will be applied by new PM is an interesting question. Already the independent Elections Commission has shown that they are not independent as it was called in the law.
Now, both sides would throw money to buy MPs to show their majority in the Parliament. Millions of rupees will change hands proving that the Parliament is the mother of corruption.

Bro, we are going towards a 'Smart Government'.
Smart infrastructures, usually have entities; Primary and disaster Recovery.
So, this the start; Primary PM and DR PM.
