CFVF,ESL - Sell or Hold
Today I was confused whether to sell and realized profit and finally I didn't sell.
I feel These two shares are overheated now. I like to ask from this forum is it a good idea to keep these shares more or sell and realize profit ?

If u are happy with your profit, You always have to book the profit. I bought ESL @ 22.50 and i sold it Rs.33 I was very happy with the profit of 50% within a very short period, then i exited. Now ESL went up to Rs.49, I don't mind as far as other counters are making me good profit.

Sell part of your holdings & wait for the next run. Why can't they go beyond for 50.00-60.00?? I got some CFVF very lately @ 43.10. So I will be waiting.

You seem to have no confidence in those shares (reading your comment), So I say exit with profit and reinvest elsewhere where you have confidence.
(CFVF gives me almost 90 % appreciation and I am ready to wait little longer).

Hence this trend will continue - with some up downs- until we see the reports at the end of OCT .
If the results tally with our expectations it will create a strong foundation to go further up and the +ve trend will continue until year end, march 2015. That means next Sinhala Avurudu - Weask time.
For CFVF I expect 12.50- 17.50 Y/Y EPS.
They split it last time when It reached 75/- (?) . Most interesting thing is that , not like BFL, KGAL or many other stocks, the buyers at peak were not put down by CFVF.
Last time I bought it around 9/- * and sold around 65/-.
The people who bought from me @ 65/ - now have 3 shares reaching 50/-
i.e. 150/-
Note: I have no ESL, did not touch or study it
* - when they reduced the stated capital to start a fresh journey, people mistook it as a bad signal and hurriedly started selling it at @ around 9/-, 5 years ago.

Hello Chinwi, It is great to know you have calculated cfvf EPS as 12.5-17.5. Could you please tell me how you came out with this figure? It will help us to understand or apply ur technique in future. I hope u didn't multiply this qtr results by 4 as ur expected earning is high....

ESL mainly engaged in the buying and selling of Govt bonds/bills. They managed to report improved profits due to the continuous decline in interest rates of Govt bonds/bills. Profits were reported as at 30/06/14. However after 30th June until last week end we observed further decline in Govt bonds/bills. By now we have passed half of the month of August & we have another full month(September) to complete the Sep Q 14. On that ground we can assume that the company results in Sep Q 14 will also be healthy. In a scenario like that one can expect the ESL to test previous high of Rs81.
.
Watch out - ESL and CFVF will out perform the market in the future
Still we have 6 days to go to complete the SEPQ14. Did anyone notic upward movement in T. BONDS/BILLS. so in conclusion these two should report improved profits for the sep Q as well. Any arguments?

Re: CFVF,ESL - Sell or Hold
This was rather inflated by brokers.. When I ask my broker whether CFVF is a good buy? He said, "Yes" it is a recommended share. I think they follow this site.. So he added, as long as the rates are low they will report a good next qtr hence price will increase, there's nothing wrong in parking.
Also many are bullish on a hefty dividend.
But I'm a trader nuh?? So parking for a months is my problem if I only see a 10-15% run. At least if I park this till October results, then if I can have more than 30%, that's a good scene.
On a positive note, there is hope towards better EPS as Chinwi and others pointed out.. On top of that, an announcement of a hefty dividend can take this to news highs... By any chance if this goes to 70s and they do split, this can be awarded "GEM" status.
So I guess we will have to wait. I now only have 1000 shares left.

We must be careful. people are watching this forum. We have 300 member but I feel lot of non members come here.
BTW, I think the upper level is possible IF they have a lot of high yielding TB/B acquired few years ago.
