HNB Grameen shares to be listed in CSE

Jan 06, 2016 (LBO) – Hatton National Bank’s micro finance arm, HNB Grameen, is to list its shares in the Colombo Stock Exchange shortly, Managing Director of HNB, Jonathan Alles said.
Alles was speaking at the trade opening ceremony conducted at the CSE yesterday.
“In the HNB group, Lanka Ventures, HNB Assurance are listed and our recent acquisition, HNB Grameen will be listed shortly.” Alles said.
HNB first listed in 1971 and since then has grown to be one of the dominant stocks in the CSE, within the top 10 in terms of the market cap and exceeding 10 billion rupees in turnover in 2015.
This event was yet another in a series of Market Opening Ceremonies, featuring the companies from the S&P SL20 index.

micro credit companies are sucking blood from the rural poor communities. in my area 5 or six such companies come to lend money to poor villagers and now most of the villagers are in debt to all companies. their target is housewives . these housewives take loans without informing their husbands and the end result is family problems between husband and wife. for 5000 rupee loan 6500 rupees should be paid back to the company within six months. so interest rate is around 60% per annum.
