Re: What happened to Malaysian flight 370?
If I remember correct, Prof Pattiarachchi helped NARA to develop a satalite data (temparature + planktan content in the sea etc) based fish forcast. This helps deep sea fishermen to reach areas where fish is available in large quantities direct cutting their fuel costs & time. Our fishermen get this info for free from NARA when American companies charge Rs: 1 million per month.Backstage wrote:yaka wrote:latest on yahoo

Rest in deep see near Antarctica.
I have never heard a plane disaster like this. After initial human intervention I think it traveled its own in a direct line. Approx distance 7400 km.

Even the 'blackbox' or Flight Data Recorder should be upgraded.
FDR was introduced in 1930s and further developed in 1940s and 50 s .
Unfortunately even today they have to dive 5 kms in Indian Ocean to get data recorded in 777 FDR.
Why can't they have safe data centers like we have for our servers and develop safe encryption and data links to transfer data from the aircraft. ?

According to one report, the owners of a valuable patent
were aboard MA 370. If they died, the patent would belong to the company, Freescale Semiconductor, which is owned by Jacob Rothschild.
Latest! Philip Wood, an IBM executive and passenger on MA370 may have got a message out that the plane was hijacked as part of a CIA operation and taken to Diego Garcia. Watch this!

Malaysia Airlines MH370: Reports Speculate that Missing Plane May Have Landed and Not Crashed
The mystery of the vanished Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has taken a new twist with the international team probing the incident now considering the possibility that the plane may have landed rather than ended up in the Indian Ocean, according to various media reports.
International Investigation Team (IIT), it seems, have not gathered conclusive clues on what precisely may have happened to the flight, and are rethinking on how best to explain the disappearance of the jet.
This is because no debris has been found yet, and the underwater mission is 80% complete in the 10-km area around the locus of the 5 April pings, which according to the ocean search team had been the most promising lead.
Maritime experts have already warned that the pings detected in the ocean may not necessarily have originated from the airplane's black boxes.
Peter Herzig, Executive Director at Feomar Helmholt Centre for Oceanographic Research pointed out that the search area in the Indian Ocean is a noisy place where scores of planes and ships make rounds. Also, there is the possibility that the sounds may have come from other vessels passing in the vicinity at the time the pings were picked up.
Investigators are now considering other explanations to determine the fate of the missing Malaysia Airlines MH370, and have not dismissed the possibility of the plane having landed at an unknown location.
"The thought of it landing somewhere else is not impossible, as we have not found a single debris that could be linked to MH370... [but] the possibility of a specific country hiding the plane when more than 20 nations are searching for it, seems absurd," a source from IIT told the New Strait Times.
"We may have to regroup soon to look into this possibility if no positive results come back in the next few days... but at the same time, the search mission in the Indian Ocean must go on," the source said.
The possibility of the aircraft having crashed on some remote island in the ocean is also being explored.
However, the missing plane was carrying four emergency locater transmitters (ELTs) which transmit the aircraft's location to an emergency satellite in case of a crash or contact with water, the CNN reported.
Experts are puzzled over why the ELTs did not activate, and if they did, why the satellite had failed to pick up their signals.
When contacted Malaysia Airlines said it could not comment on "any questions that relate to information held by other authorities and/or fall under the jurisdiction of the ongoing investigation. ..."
The investigative team have also admitted that the earlier calculations derived from information provided by Inmarsat were not entirely reliable, because communication satellites cannot detect crucial details such as a plane's direction, altitude and speed.
"A communications satellite is meant for communication... the name is self-explanatory. The reason investigators were forced to adopt a new algorithm to calculate the last known location of MH370 was because there was no global positioning system following the aircraft as the transponder went off 45 minutes into the flight," one source noted.

The company, GeoResonance, claims it has identified possible wreckage from a commercial airliner on the ocean floor in the Bay of Bengal, Australia's 7News reports.
The Bay of Bengal, marked on the map below, is about 3,100 miles from the circled area of the southern Indian Ocean where authorities have been looking for the missing plane.
The plane has been missing for about six weeks, and search teams have yet to find any wreckage. In March, Malaysian authorities said satellite data revealed the plane's last known location in a remote area of the Indian Ocean.
But GeoResonance claims it surveyed about 1.2 million square miles of the possible crash zone and identified "chemical elements and materials that make up a Boeing 777," a company official told 7News. GeoResonance apparently used images obtained from satellites and aircraft along with technology designed to find nuclear warheads and submarines to identify what it says is the wreckage of a plane.
This screenshot from 7News allegedly shows where the wreckage is:
The company thinks it is MH370 because the wreckage wasn't showing up on images from the same area from before the plane disappeared. GeoResonance told 7News it had sent a report about its findings to authorities on April 15.
A Malaysian aviation official told The Star newspaper that Malaysia was unaware of the report of GeoResonance's findings.
The agency that's running the search for the missing plane dismissed GeoResonance's findings, telling CNN: "The location specified by the GeoResonance report is not within the search arc derived from this data. The joint international team is satisfied that the final resting place of the missing aircraft is in the southerly portion of the search arc."
Malaysian authorities, however, are looking into GeoResonance's claims.
GeoResonance notes on its website that the company has "successfully applied [its] technology to locate submersed structures, ships and aircraft."
MH370 went missing on March 8 during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. There were 239 people on board.
