The Hotel sector I believe made a strategic blunder in their investments post 2009, their expansion plans were focused on infrastructure to cater to the upmarket sector. This was flawed thinking as we neither had the services or marketing to back that up and nor the proper product that is available in Thailand or Vietnam at half the cost. The 2012 occupancy levels at the air conditioned concrete blocks confirmed that. Now I believe the situation is being corrected gradually, though pricing still needs to be improved, 2014 has to be better.
