Issuing a special order a short while ago (21), President Maithripala Sirisena has ordered to drop all charges filed against former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka, reinstating him as a General, reports say.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', Capt. Senaka Haripriya de Silva - the personal assistant of Fonseka, confirmed this.

Accordingly Fonseka is to be a four-star General with his medals restored, Silva added.

Fonseka also served as Chief of Defence Staff before contesting the 2010 Presidential election against former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

He deserves to be reinstated. I am happy with this. He did what he had to do for his country during the war . He was a soldier not a philosopher. So I am not mixing up everything.

I did not like how he was unjustifiably accused and inprisoned . This news is good and justified.

Now I guess the opposers will not like me for saying this.

What ever the political party or bias what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. MR or MS or UNP or SLFP

Should he now file a civil case against those who were behind that to get a proper redress? bounce

I am sure, they will have to come and answer in front of a panel of judges, because the protective executive shield is no more there to protect the wrong doers. pale
